Happy Fourth of July

Strawberry/Rhubarb and Blueberry Pie

Strawberry/Rhubarb and Blueberry Pie

Just took these out of the oven.  On our way to celebrate Independence Day with family in Wisconsin.  Jim and I send our very best wishes to you and your families for a fun and safe holiday.

Independence Day marks the birth of the United States of America on July 4, 1776.  John Adams wrote: “Americans should henceforth celebrate a great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore.”

We join all Americans in celebration of this great nation – “one nation under God!”
