Thank You

imageWe are currently in Maryland celebrating the high school graduation of our grandson, Tyler.  The days have been and will continue to be jammed packed with planning, grocery shopping, a lot of time spent in the kitchen and visiting with family and friends.

I woke up this morning and paused in the busyness and realized what this weekend is really about:  Remembering and praising the brave men and women who gave their lives so we could have the freedom to have celebrations such as these.

“Dating back to the American Civil War when it was known as Decoration Day, the practice of placing flowers on the graves of fallen soldiers is not only done in remembrance of the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces, but also to honor the freedom in which they upheld.”

My husband, having served nearly 36 years with the United States Marine Corps, knew many of the fallen. He and his brothers in the Corps remembers them more than just on Memorial Day.  These memories bring pain they must live with in their day to day lives. I cannot even begin to understand what this is like.

But today, I would like to lay flowers on each of their graves to show that I care and thank them.  Since this is not physically possible, instead I offer my praise to God for each of these brave Marines and all others who have responded to the call to serve. My prayers are with each of their families.

Thank you to all who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Beautifully said! We have all our freedoms due to our veterans.
