Grown and Flown

I was reading a blog written by a woman with four children, three have grown up and moved on with their lives.  One 15-year-old boy is left at home and he turns to her and says: “You will miss me the most because after I’m gone it is going to be really, really quiet here.”

Everyone asks me how I feel when the kittens go home. When I reflect on this question I can’t help but think it is a little like having your last child leave.  On one hand you think this might be nice; I will finally have some time to do things that have been pushed by the wayside.  But then it happens!

Cinder, the last to go from Lily’s and Ana’s litters, just left about an hour ago and it is really, really quiet here!

Today is Alura's birthday and she agreed Cinder is the perfect present. Mom, Dad, brother John and sister Elya drove all the way from Iowa to make this birthday wish come true!

Michelle and Jack came to pick up Sam this morning. Sister Maggie and another Siberian, Ronen, are waiting at home to welcome them.

When Amber selected Russell, I told her he was the perfect cat. She asked why. Now that he is at home she sent me an email that said "He really does seem to be the perfect cat!"

Asha, Kiki and Jeeves are so excited to pick up their third Semper Fi Siberian. Yes, that is correct, third! And look how famously they are getting along already!

Alexa drove out to Crystal Lake on a rainy Wednesday to pick up her kitten, Bianca. "Bianca and I made it home safely. She was not happy and very vocal about the car ride home but immediately came out of her crate and is settling in nicely."

Do we miss them? Without question!  The house is way too quiet.

But we are so fortunate to have 8 little kittens waiting in the birthing rooms.  Eyes are beginning to open. They now hear us when we enter the room.  And it won’t be long before they, too, will be running around, climbing cat trees, making the ball go round and round on the turbo toy, and breaking the silence!

We thank each of these new pet families for reading all the emails we sent to prepare you for this day, for your patience in waiting for your little angel and the smiles and love you shared when you took your kitten in your arms.

All so adorable! I can’t get over how Bianca has the same nose and cheek markings as our Lana. 🙂
