2016 Cat House on Wheels

Once again the Cat House on Wheels safely transported the Bathurst “family” to Florida. Just so our friends and family up north realize it is not all sun and soaring temperatures, we have actually had to put up with 70 degree temps for a couple of days.🙀

Mr. Silver and his ladies have all settled in nicely at our house in Fort Myers. Lily and Ana are expecting this month.  Our plan is to breed Maggie next but so far she has told Mr. Silver, “Not tonight; I have a headache!”

We have been contacted by several of our pet parents to let us know they had been unable to reach us via email. It turns out we had reached our limit–didn’t even know we had a limit. We had received so many emails and photos of your beautiful Siberians that we had gone over the top. So what is the fix? Definitely not asking you to send fewer photos! Our email provider tripled our limit—so keep those pictures coming!

There are too many photos sent in by our beloved pet parents to include in one blog post so I will include  just a few. The rest will come in future posts.  Now for your viewing pleasure, meet this week’s stars:

We will return to Illinois by April, in time for the January kittens to go to their forever homes.  For those of you who would like to visit for an allergy test, we will be happy to make an April/May appointment for you. In the meantime, if you would like us to send a fur sample, please let us know.  As of this writing we have 29 people on our wait list. Very soon we will cease accepting additional names until we see litter numbers for Lily, Ana and Maggie.

Effective January 15, we will increase our kitten price to $1,000. (People currently on our list will not be subject to the price increase.) Jim keeps track of all expenses and at the end of the year determines where we stand.  Although our goal is not to make a huge profit, it is to cover expenses.  Our move to Crystal Lake has increased our costs – mainly from vet bills. In addition, we feel as responsible breeders we need to test our breeding cats for possible inherited diseases. At this writing all our cats are FIV/FELV negative and we have reached our goal of having all adult cats tested for HCM for which all were pronounced clear.

Jim and I send our very best to you and your Siberians.  The year 2016 is a blank slate; this chapter of your story is waiting to be written.  You are the author!  Fill your story with the people, experiences and attitudes that bring you joy!  May God bless you on your journey.

  1. The assistant Christmas gift wrapper is actually Pashka, not Katya. 🙂

Happy for you that you’re able to enjoy your warm weather location again. I had to giggle on your “not tonight, I have a headache” comment! And how very thoughtful and typical of you to handle the email overload problem by increasing capacity. You always think of solutions for the good of your pet-parent families.
