The Best Job In The World!

Can any of you say “I have the best job in the world.”?

We can!

Our job isn’t perfect – scooping litter many, many times a day and opening up lots of cans of food is not high up on most people’s job description desires.  But when you get to spend the week-end doing what Jim and I did, you wouldn’t trade it for anything. This week-end we had the pleasure of making five families very, very happy.  Sophie’s kittens went to their new homes.  The families spent the last several weeks in anticipation of this day.  Waiting can be difficult but when they took their new family member in their arms, they agreed it was worth every moment. The looks on the faces of these pet parents when they saw their kitten was priceless and it is what makes Jim and I say it is all worth it.

Shawn and Stephanie drove from Chicago to Girard several weeks ago to pick out the two kittens they want to love forever. They gave them the names of Lincoln and Sophie and anxiously awaited the day they could bring them home. Now that day is finally here!

In the beginning Brian and Michaela said they wanted a female. They already have a Balinese named Coco. But when I sent the photos of this gorgeous little boy we had available for them, they quickly changed their mind and decided he was perfect for their family. They named him Ziggy Stardust. I bet the boys Scott and Dylan, suggested the name.

When Brogan contacted us for a kitten, he knew exactly what he wanted. He wanted a female and he wanted her to be gray/silver. The babies were born and there was only one that fit his desires but there was someone in front of him on the list. Would this little darling be available to him? He waited anxiously. The first person did choose another kitten so he was able to get the kitten he wanted - well, of course, it was his birthday the day they were born so it just had to be! Sansa is now his forever.

Laura first contacted us in October of last year. She is very allergic to animals so we did our car test (yes that is car test , not cat test!) and she passed. They wanted to wait until they moved into a new home before getting a pet. A little tired of waiting, Laura decided to get a kitten from this litter and now it looks like the new home will be coming very soon. And Rich will then want to get a dog. So if anyone knows of a breed of dog that is hypoallergenic, let us know.

While I was delivering kittens in the Chicago area, Jim was home babysitting our pet family and meeting Becky, Scott and daughters, Lucy and Nora. Becky is the family member with the allergies, but she had visited earlier and had no reaction to Sophie and her kittens, so they are very happy to welcome Max into their home.

I hope you enjoyed their stories. And it won’t be long before we will be able to make three more families happy with Zhaklin’s kittens – I can’t wait!

  1. I have to say we absolutely fell in love with Vladimir immediately!  Rich who is also allergic to cats has had zero allergic reaction to Mr. Vladimir Boris.  I however had a little runny nose after he slept in our bed after the first night, but besides that I seem to be fine.  (Normally after being around cats I can’t breath, have itchy watery eyes and nose and can sometimes get hives, so to have little to no reaction to him is amazing!)  Thank you Jim and Nancy!

Vladimir Boris – Great Name, Rasputin approves.
Rasputin will be 1 year old on Thursday. I will try to get a picture of him in a party hat. He may not go along with that idea though.
